FILA LAKE GARDA 42 – Fourth Edition 2025
The fourth edition of the FILA LAKE GARDA 42 has come to a close, marking the end of a brilliant weekend of running. From Friday 4 to Sunday 6 April, the northern shores of Lake Garda became the ideal destination for runners from from 80 different countries. An amazing 5,000 participants lined up at the start in Limone sul Garda, for the marathon, and in Arco, for the half marathon, with an even number of runners participating over the two distances.
In the FILA LAKE GARDA 42 men’s marathon, which started in Limone sul Garda and finished in Malcesine, first place went to the German Tobias Beibl from the Running Society Team in a time of 2:38:16, ahead of the Italians Matteo Vecchietti from Atletica Paratico in second, 3:17 behind, and Luca Vivaldi from Stivo Running Team in third, who was 9:07 behind the winner.
In the women’s race, the first to cross the line was the German Stefanie Hansen from the Running Society Team in a time of 3:03:44.
Sharing the podium with her were the Lithuanian twin sisters Monika Bytautienė and Milda Eimontė from Sesės Bėga Team, crossing the finish line almost simultaneously with times of 3:04:08 and 3:04:09, respectively.
The FILA LAKE GARDA 42 half marathon continues to be a favourite with the female participants, who this year made up 60% of the 2,500 runners competing on the course that runs from Arco to Malcesine.
The quickest over the distance was the Italian Alessia Scaini from the S.A. Valchiese, who broke the tape in 1:20:38, a new record for the event.
Completing the podium was the German Alexia Fontaine from the LG Stadtwerke München, who finished 5:24 behind, and the Italian Andreea Lucaci, who was 7:23 behind the winner.
A record time also in the men’s race thanks to Tom Förster from the LG Braunschweig, who triumphs for the second consecutive year. The German crossed the finish line after 1:08:16, improving his time from last year by 3.24. Silver went to the Dutch Stijn Burghoorn, finishing in 1:10:04, and bronze to the Italian Davide Cheraz, with a time of 1:10:11.
Also in this edition, the LG42 marathon and the LG21 half marathon were accompanied by a range of other side events organised throughout the weekend: the CXP Trail Run in Malcesine for those eager to give trail running a go, the FILA Morning Run in Limone sul Garda for those looking to limber up ahead of the main races on Sunday, and LG KIDS in Riva del Garda for children who already can’t wait to run those longer distances when they get older.
A programme of events that, year after year, makes the FILA LAKE GARDA 42 not just a race, but a true “festival” of running.
